Quality Control for Custom Textiles — 4-Step Inspection, 98.5% Yield Rate

Galink runs a documented 4-step inspection from incoming materials to AQL pre-shipment checks across towels, blankets, and bags. Each batch leaves the line only after colorfastness, shrinkage, and stitch-strength tests are logged; the 98.5% yield rate covers every order category on a 12-month rolling basis.

What is your quality control process for custom towels and bags?

Galink's textile quality control process is a 4-step inspection — incoming materials, in-line checks, AQL pre-final sampling, and pre-shipment final inspection — applied to every towel, blanket, and bag order at our 5,000 ㎡ Suzhou factory under AQL 2.5 default. Inspections follow AQL 2.5 (general inspection, default; can adjust per buyer contract to AQL 1.0 or 4.0). The 98.5% yield rate (defect-free) we publish is measured against this 4-step gate, not against a single end-of-line check.

  • Step 1 — Incoming material inspection: Every fabric roll, yarn lot, and accessory batch is checked against the buyer's spec sheet before cutting.
  • Step 2 — In-line inspection: Floor inspectors walk the line at fixed intervals to catch print defects, stitch skips, and color drift mid-run.
  • Step 3 — AQL pre-final inspection: Statistical sampling based on lot size; defects classified critical / major / minor.
  • Step 4 — Pre-shipment final inspection: Random carton opening, weight check, and packaging review before container loading.

Why buyers trust it: every step is logged, every batch carries a QC reference code, and lab test reports (colorfastness, shrinkage, GSM) are issued on request — see certifications & ESG for the audit chain behind the numbers.

What is your defect rate and how do you measure it?

Galink publishes a 98.5% yield rate (defect-free), measured as the share of finished units passing all 4-step inspection without any critical or major defect, on a 12-month rolling basis across all towel, blanket, and bag orders shipped from the Galink factory floor. The complement — 1.5% defect rate — captures units flagged at any of the four gates (incoming, in-line, AQL, pre-shipment) and excluded from shipment.

MetricValueMeasurement window
Yield rate (defect-free)98.5%12-month rolling, all towel / blanket / bag orders
Defect rate1.5%Same window; critical + major defects, all gates
Re-inspection rate after rework< 0.5%Of reworked lots that re-enter the gate

How it's calculated:

  1. Numerator — units that pass AQL pre-final inspection with zero critical / major findings.
  2. Denominator — total finished units across all shipped orders in the rolling window.
  3. Audit trail — every batch has a QC code; buyers can request the per-batch yield sheet.

Why this matters for buyers: the 98.5% yield rate is published, not just claimed, because lot-level data is auditable — see factory capacity & on-time delivery for how yield links to our 96% on-time rate.

How do you inspect incoming materials before production?

Before any cut, fabric rolls are inspected at the incoming gate against the buyer's spec sheet — covering weight (GSM), width, hand feel, color shade versus lab-dip, and visible flaws — to catch defects before they enter production and inflate downstream rework cost and lead time. Materials that fail are segregated; the supplier is informed within 24 hours.

Incoming checkMethodPass criterion
Fabric weight (GSM)Cut-and-weigh sample, 3 points per rollWithin ±5% of spec
WidthSteel tape, 3 points per rollWithin ±1 cm of spec
Color shadeVisual + spectrophotometer vs lab-dipΔE ≤ 1.5 against approved lab-dip
Hand feelBuyer-approved reference swatchMatch reference on file
Visible flawsFull roll spread on inspection tableNo holes, stains, slubs, misweave beyond AQL

What we reject: any roll that fails GSM, width, or color shade is quarantined and not released to cutting; replacement rolls are re-inspected on arrival.

What happens during in-line and pre-final inspection?

During production, floor inspectors walk the line at fixed intervals to catch defects; at end-of-run, an AQL pre-final inspection statistically samples the lot to classify defects as critical, major, or minor before the batch moves to packing, sealing, and shipping from the factory. In-line catches process drift early; AQL is the formal release gate before final packing.

What final inspection checks happen before shipment?

Before any container is sealed, Galink runs a pre-shipment final inspection — random carton opening, packed-unit weight check, label and poly-bag review, and a final visual scan against the buyer's approved golden sample — on every shipment leaving the factory floor. This is the last gate before the goods leave the factory.

Pre-shipment checklist

  • Random cartons opened and re-counted vs packing list
  • Packed-unit weight checked against target (within tolerance)
  • Inner poly-bag and outer carton labels verified (style, size, color, quantity)
  • Barcode / carton number scan logged against QC code
  • Sample stack held against approved golden sample for color and hand-feel
  • FOB / CIF / DDP shipping marks applied per buyer instruction

Outcome: a signed pre-shipment inspection report accompanies every order; buyers receive the digital copy with shipment documents.

Which fabric testing standards do you follow?

Galink tests against publicly named industry methods — colorfastness to washing (ISO 105 C06), to light (ISO 105 B02), to rubbing (ISO 105 X12), dimensional change (AATCC 135 / ISO 5077), and GSM by cut-and-weigh — issuing reports per batch. Reports are issued per batch on request.

Note: these are public industry test methods applied to each batch — distinct from any factory-level management certification. Buyers can request the latest lab report per batch via contact us.

How can buyers request QC reports and lab test data?

Every Galink order ships with a pre-shipment inspection report; lab test reports (colorfastness, shrinkage, GSM, stitch-strength) for the specific batch are issued on written request within 3 working days, free of charge to all buyers, regardless of order size or destination. This is how buyers verify the 98.5% yield rate behind the marketing line.

How to request

  1. Free with every order — pre-shipment inspection report (PDF) attached to shipment documents.
  2. On request, per batch — colorfastness, shrinkage, GSM, stitch-strength lab reports.
  3. For repeat buyers — quarterly consolidated QC summary across orders.
  4. For audit — factory walk-through and QC records review available by appointment.

What to include in your request: order number, batch / lot code (printed on carton label), and the specific test(s) you need. See contact us for the request form.

Quality Control FAQ

What is AQL sampling in textile inspection?
AQL — Acceptable Quality Level — is the statistical defect threshold used in pre-shipment textile inspection. Galink defaults to AQL 2.5 for major defects (critical 0, minor 4.0); buyers can request AQL 1.0 or 4.0 per contract for stricter or looser sampling on their specific lot.
How do you inspect towels before shipping?
Galink runs a 4-step gate on every towel, blanket, and bag order — incoming fabric, in-line checks during production, AQL pre-final inspection on the finished lot, and a pre-shipment final check on packed cartons. Every batch carries a signed pre-shipment report attached to the shipment documents.
What is your beach towel defect rate?
Galink publishes a 98.5% yield rate (defect-free) on a 12-month rolling basis across all towel, blanket, and bag product categories. The 1.5% complement captures units rejected at any of the four QC gates — incoming, in-line, AQL, or pre-shipment — and excluded from shipment.
Can I get the lab test report for my batch?
Yes. Send your order number and batch / lot code via the contact us page; per-batch colorfastness, shrinkage, GSM, and stitch-strength reports are issued within 3 working days, free of charge to all buyers regardless of order size or destination market.
Do you run tests in-house or send to a third-party lab?
In-house lab covers GSM, dimensional change (shrinkage), colorfastness, and stitch strength on every production batch. For buyers requiring third-party verification, Galink coordinates samples with named independent labs and shares the verified report directly with the buyer's QC team at no extra cost.
